As the cottage is situated on the edge of The Loons Bird Reserve you can see and hear a great variety of birds from your doorstep. Just a short drive/walk away there is the sea cliffs of Marwick Head, Kitchener's Memorial and the Brough of Birsay, which are good breeding grounds for sea birds, including puffins.
